It's funny. I see this question often as far as what to wear to golf event. There isn't a dress code for those attending golf events. You have to dress for the weather. You're going to be in San Francisco in early October. Northern California has more fluctuation in it's temperatures than southern California. One day it could be high 70's and the next day it could be mid 50's. You can wear what's comfortable for you because the majority of the other spectator's attention will be on the golfers and not what the person next to them is wearing. Are you going to walk the course or are you going to be on a particular hole? Only you know this so again, dress for the weather.

Slacks, golf short and sweater or wind breaker. Twice to San Fransisco and happy to have the extra clothing. The city is not like southern California. Be comfortable.

USA Attire. USA USA USA. a polo or long sleeve shirt should do fine. It gets cold in the city. after all it is on the coast... Dress like you were going to Pebble, or Half Moon bay.

Wear whatever is comfortable, that is most important. In, S.F., though, watch the weather forecast closely. Dress for the weather. No spiked heels...leaves holes in the green! lol
