this may seem stupid but if you hold it as if to hit a golf ball, if the face, the part that strikes the ball, is to your left then its a right hand club. if its to your right its a left hand club.

One attribute to look for: The club head face.
It hits the golf ball and is the flatest surface on the head (usually they have grooves or 'scoring lines').
All club heads have a heel and a toe, much like your foot. And when you put the club head on the ground while holding it, the heel is closest to you and the toe is furthest away (again, much like your foot).
And after doing so, look at the club head face. If you are right handed, the face would be facing left, and if you are left handed, if would face right.
People have been known to turn club heads upside down to hit shots opposite their dominant hand, but this is highly skilled and only done in extreme situations (up against a tree, etc.). Hope this helps!
