Question:
Golf driver help?
?

Okay, so I have a pretty good drive, but the problem is that in order to hit the ball straight, I do some pretty radical things. First off, I have a very wicked slice, ( I am a right handed golfer) that takes about 50 yards off of my drive. In order to combat this, I point the golf club head facing in pretty radically, and I also purposely turn my hands and arms over in order to give it a hook-type shot. This results in, about 70% of the time, a shot that is about 290 yards. However, I do not consistently hit it straight. I will often hook the ball dramatically, or slice it as normal. Does anybody know what I could be doing wrong. It should also be noted that my golf club is a tad too long so I do choke down on the club. The degree on my club is 10.5°, it is a Nike dymo Sasquatch club that I am very pleased with. Any help would be welcome, thank you.

Another Harvey Penick visual aid that I cured my slice was the baseball. Stand at the homeplate. Take your stance to aim your body slightly to the right of the second base, but aim your clubface straight at the base. Then hit your ball over the short stop, use your 7i at first then a 3 wood.

Be careful the downswing is not from the outside. Come down the line on the plane and hit a hard fly ball over the shortstop, using primarily the left forearm and possibly rotating the hole left arm. This is the best cure for slicing, I tried it and I've not had a chronic slice in 20 years.

The easiest way to learn golf like a pro is by following "The Simple Golf Swing" program. It's primarily a 31 page eBook that teaches golfers how to make solid contact with the ball, how to avoid hitting fat, how to avoid slicing, how get more power, accuracy, and consistency in your swing. Consistency being the number 1 golf skill.

You not only get the eBook though, you also receive a ton of extra material including video, lessons on putting, driving, chipping, sand play etc. Here is their official site: http://www.golfswingguru.net

Harvey Penick had a great imagery here: "Swing the Bucket." Basically, picture yourself holding a bucket of water, then swing the golf club as if you weren't trying to spill the water until the follow through. If you want to promote a draw, teach your brain to spill the water to the left on the follow through. This will get your brain to promote the idea of swinging from the inside to outside with a closed face (promoting a draw).

Driver slices is caused by not rotating the body during the swing. It's all hands that do the working. So fix this and feel your body rotate when you swing.

a slice means at impact your clubs face is pointed right of your clubs path thru the ball

aim your feet left of the target, swing right of the target, with the face aimed at the target

Try "trapping the ball." When you set up, set up straight and normal with normal hand grip and parallel club face to the ball but put your hands infront of ball and then swing normal
