Got an adams at the moment which is good off the ground but I don't tend to use off the tee as I have no confidence with it.

Golf Digest's Hot List for 2007 fairway woods rated the Callaway Big Bertha as the Editor's Choice for fairway woods. However, all the fairway woods that made the list are quality clubs.
I've included the link to the list. Click on "View Hot List Ratings" for an in-depth review of each model.

Should be the other way around... Good off tee, tough off ground. Tee lower if you feel the ground is a better surface. At least you'll hit it cleaner.
I like the Taylor Made Burner 3 wood - nice and hot off the face with a straight shot. Then the Cobra LD F speed. Launches higher from what I found.
I carry the TM 3 wood and the Cobra 7 wood in my bag - don't use a 5 wood.

The Sonartec club head is sweet. Great feel, very forgiving and a great sound. Match that up with the shaft that you like and you'll have an amazing 3 wood. It's the same with the 5 wood.

Is that because the face is so shallow? That's why I got rid of mine. There are several out there with good characteristics for both fairway and tee usage.
If you want to stay fairly cheap, the Tour Edge QL Fairway is nice. I have a pair of Titleist 980's myself and I love them. The Sonartec NP-99's, and 3.5's are supposed to be nice also, haven't owned them though.

Golf Magazine rated the Callaway Big Bertha as the best for 2007 while the Nike Sasquatch 2 and Tour Edge Exotics CB2 tied for 2nd by 1 point. I'm partial to Nike. I have a Sasquatch and love it. I'm going to get a Sasquatch 2 in the near future.

If you hit it good off the ground, you should just easily hit it good off the tee box. Notice I did not say tee. You don't have to tee the ball up on the tee box area, usually the grass is nice enought there so that you can place your ball onto a great lie, then just swing away!

Try to find a golf shop or pro shop that will let you try different clubs before you buy one. There are many out there. If you can't find one, try out a friends club at the range.

I like the Callaway great big betha fairway woods. They are consistent, and even your poor hits somehow hit the club face well.

Nike SQ sumo. Good enough for tiger, good enough for me. Its long, forgiving, and a hell of a club. I feel i hit it better than my 5 wood. Nike has this one on top

what ever you do don't buy in to the hype of over sized woods they are junk. i would say the cleveland hybore 1st nike sumo2 2nd. either one great choice.
