I'm a fairly new golfer and the clubs I have are hand-me-down dunlops from about 20 years ago. I want to start taking the game more serious so Its time to seriously upgrade from what I have.

I shoot low to mid 90s and hit all my irons fairly long and straight(average about 160 with my 7 iron). I was thinking about the Mizuno MX 950 or big bertha fusions but I thought I'd ask others for their opinions since I don't really know to much. Any help would be appreciated.

Taylormade r7's!!!!!! I shot in the 90's for a while with some old x-14's. I bought the r7's and quickly lowered my handicap. I'm down to about a 9 handicap now with them. I may be selling them if your interested!

Best Irons For Mid Handicap

My handicap was a 14 about 3 months ago when I had the Cobra FP irons. I now have the Mizuno MP 68's. Best iron I have ever played in my life. I am now a 10 handicap. The thing with these irons is that you have to hit them right. If you don't you ball will not go far. BUT, this WILL build muscle memory and you will become a better ball striker doing this. Unlike forgiving irons when you hit a bad shot and it keeps slicing and slicing and slicing you really don't have a chance to recover because the ball is so off track. If you hit a bad shot with these forged irons it doesnt go that far and you at least have a chance for recovery. When you do hit them right there is no better feeling in any club. If they are out of your price range I would look at the MP 57's they are a little more forgiving and they feel SWEET as heck too. I almost got those. Best of luck to ya.

I have MP 68 irons as well, but I am a +3 handicap. The thing is, if you are willing to work hard at your game, then sure get a players iron. But if you are just a weekend golfer and are not going to get much better than a 10 handicap than I suggest getting a game improvement iron. Taylormade is has put out a number of great game improvement irons, or you may want to take a look at the Titleist AP 1s or maybe even the 2s depending on how good of a ball striker you are.

Do yourself a huge favor and try out these clubs before buying them. They are all good clubs, and all have different characteristics. Find the ones that fit your swing the best, not some one elses.

I think that you should look into custom clubs. They will have all of the game improving features that the brand name clubs will have, and they will fit you perfectly. If you have any questions feel free to e-mail me or check out http://golferschoicecustomclubs.com .
