i don't really know much about golf but i'm just curious, if the ryder cup is played by the USA and Europe teams, what about golfers from countries not within the two? like Australia, Asia, Africa. what if there are great players who are even ranked high but not from USA or Europe? they don't get to participate? Adam Scott from Australia i think is good, Greg Norman, and the guy who won the green jacket i think is from South Africa or something. what about them?

The Ryder cup was originally set up to be just the US vs. Great Britain. Later the rest of Europe was allowed to play with Great Britain. Australia and Japan and the rest of the world were still left out of the Ryder Cup. Later the President's Cup was invented to feature US vs. the rest of the World. I know that seems unfair, but you have to understand that golf honors tradition. The Ryder Cup is filled with tradition. Therefore the Ryder Cup is just US vs. Europe. I don't see this ever changing. The President's Cup which is US vs. the rest of the World tries to address this inequity. Is it fair? No, but that is the way it is.

As much as The Golf Channel tries to push down our throats that

we care about the Ryder Cup..., god try guys but.., No Thank You...!!

It's like ESPN always trying to do the same with soccer (suckker).

1st, England or Ireland can not find 12 players to compete with the

12 Yanks. We are talking about 12 players from their country and

they can not do this, how sad.

Yes, the pressure will be on the Yanks in 2 yrs. and most likely we will

lose again. Why..., WE DON'T CARE...!!! Major wins by Westwood,

Garcia & Poulter= 0...!!!! Phil......5....!!! Get it Euros..., it's all about the MAJORS..!! Ask Tiger or Jack.

As far as Tom Watson, this lose will tarnish his legacy forever. Sorry Tom

but it's true.

Golfers who are excluded from playing the Ryder Cup are exactly who the Presidents Cup was created for. A US team competes against an International team that excludes European players.

And of course elite golfers from all countries are welcome to compete on the PGA Tour, which obviously many do (including the two you named).

I actually think it is fair. I compare it to Curling's Tim Hortons Brier, which is the Canadian Championship and probably the biggest tournament in the World. It is contested between teams from each of Canada's ten provinces, as well as one team from the Territories and one team from Northern Ontario. No teams from outside Canada are allowed, that's what the World Championship was created for.
